On this Holy Family Sunday, I am reminded of the late Msgr. Martin Hellriegel's exhortations to families on this day. Certainly, family prayer was at the center of family living in his parish of Holy Cross in Baden. He strongly advocated the daily family Rosary for every family. He also encouraged parents to sign their children with holy water on the forehead before going to bed. The children looked forward to this, and if the parents came home late, the children would stay up until their parents signed their foreheads with holy water.
